Annual Celebration 2022 at Sanborn Mills Farm
On Sunday, September 11th, Five Rivers hosted our 2022 Annual Celebration, celebrating our successes and giving thanks for the support that makes our conservation work possible. This year the gathering was held at the unique, beautiful, and historic Sanborn Mills Farm in Loudon, where traditional crafting and farming techniques meet modern sustainability practices. Approximately 60 supporters in the Five Rivers community came together in this beautiful outdoor setting.
The afternoon featured updates from Five Rivers, Celtic music performed by Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki, finger foods made with local farm ingredients, and three different 30 minute guided tours: one focusing on gardens; one focusing on the sawmill, grist mill, and blacksmith shop; and one walking through the woods.
Sanborn Mills Farm is a traditional New Hampshire working farm with agricultural fields and managed forests, timber framed barns and outbuildings still in use for animals, a sawmill, a grist mill (both water-powered), and a blacksmith shop, all dating from the 1830s. The farm buildings are clustered around two dams and are surrounded by almost 2,000 acres of open space in conservation. To read more about Sanborn Mills Farm, click here.
