On Thursday, July 17th, Board Chair Jamie Robertson of Contoocook Creamery at Bohanan Farm hosted the second annual farm-to-table dinner at Bohanan Farm to benefit Five Rivers Conservation Trust. More than 130 lucky attendees supported Five Rivers and enjoyed this wonderful event, dining on delicious local food, the company of other like-minded conservationists, and live music by Cara, a local Celtic ensemble.

The dinner was perfectly prepared, served, and sourced from local farms: Bohanan Farm chicken raised at Grant Family Farms in Weare, corn from LaValley Farms in Hooksett, fresh salad ingredients from Carter Hill Orchard and Apple Hill Farm in Concord, dinner rolls made from scratch by Jamie and Jess in their own Contoocook kitchen, and ice cream from Granite State Candy (made with cream from Contoocook Creamery).

The weather on the 17th was quite hot and humid. Thunderstorms were forecast for the afternoon but failed to appear. A thunderstorm alert was then issued for 7 p.m. and, almost to the minute, black skies swept toward the farm. No lightning or thunder, but rain and wind pelted the large tent housing the gathering and the smaller tent housing the band. Guests cheered as the rain started to come down, knowing relief from the relentless heat was on the way! The storm passed quickly, leaving in its wake a spectacular rainbow visible across the Bohanan Farm fields.

A huge thanks to everyone who attended this event and to all the volunteers from Bohanan Farm and Five Rivers who worked long and hard to make this farm-to-table dinner so enjoyable and memorable.
